Elena Saltis

Elena is owner of Animal PhysioNZ & Animal Orthopaedics Christchurch (AOC). She completed her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the Ohio State University, USA. She has since worked as a human physiotherapist in the USA & New Zealand. Previously Elena owned PhysiotherapyNZ Ltd, a multi-clinic human physiotherapy practice in the South Island.


Elena gainer her certification in canine rehabilitation therapy from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute USA, & became an instructor on the CRI course for USA & Australia.  She has furthered her post-graduate training overseas, in areas such as advanced spinal manipulation, sports medicine, prosthetics/orthotics, advanced manual therapy & rehabilitation.


Elena is a recognised leader in canine rehabilitation, running workshops, presentations & internships around the world. She is deeply committed to sharing her skills & knowledge.


Elena is also passionate about philanthropy, having set-up or involved with;

  • A clinic in Spain within the Galgos Rescue Sanctuary for greyhounds to help them regain their best lives possible.

  • “Street Tails” - a charity providing vet & physio care for homeless people’s animals in Christchurch.

  • The Canine NeuroPark Charity Trust - a private rehabilitation & enrichment park for dogs.

  • The Greyhound Rehab-to-Home project, as well as other animal rehoming & rescue agencies


She has an x-racing greyhound, a 24-year-old tabby cat & a rescued chihuahua/foxy cross. Elena loves walking her dogs, mountain biking, yoga, skiing, dirt biking & reading. She previously served 10 years as NZAVPA Secretary.
