Helen Taylor

Helen has over 20 years of experience in human & animal physiotherapy, with special interests in orthopaedic & neurological physio. Since 2019, Helen has focused her career on canine rehabilitation & employs a multi-disciplinary team approach. Working as a therapist with dogs & cats allows her to combine her passion for animal welfare with her skills in rehabilitation.

She loves helping animals overcome injuries, manage pain, & regain their mobility so they can enjoy happier, healthier, & more active lives. Seeing the progress each pet makes & the joy it brings their owners is incredibly rewarding. Every day is different, & being part of their recovery inspires Helen to keep learning & growing in this specialist field.

Helen has witnessed first-hand how much can be done to help dogs optimise their recovery following surgery or injury. The evidence in this area of canine physiotherapy is growing rapidly worldwide, & she is excited to be involved in advancing the field.

Helen provides in-depth physiotherapy assessments, advice & instruction on exercise programmes, & treatments with modalities such as Laser, TENS, PEMF, therapeutic massage, & hydrotherapy with an underwater treadmill. All treatment plans are individualized to the animal's needs.

In her spare time, Helen loves swimming, reading, & catching up with friends. She also enjoys exploring the great outdoors with her husband, Stu, two teenagers, & her two adored Golden Retriever/Labrador crosses, Marley & Jess.

Helen’s qualifications include;

• Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (Hons) (BScPhys (Hons)) - University of Brighton. UK (1999)

• Level 3 Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy (2020)

• Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) - Canine Rehabilitation Institute, USA (2022)

• Member New Zealand Association of Canine Hydrotherapists (NZACH)

• Member International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy (IAVRPT)

• Member of Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ)

• NZ Physiotherapy Board registered (NZPB)
